The Wildlife and Habitat Project

Aiming to make the churchyard ever more beautiful as a place for solace, reflection and enjoyment and increase the biodiversity of both the flora and fauna within it.

In May 2022 we were presented with a SILVER award in the Churchyard Conservation Scheme run by the Wildlife Trust.

The Building

The church is a Norman and Medieval Grade I listed building.

The Friends of St Mary's (FOSM) do an amazing job raising the profile of the beautiful church, and fundraising for the building and the fabric; applying for grants and putting on a string of wonderful concerts. Click below to get to their website:

Recent Work on the Building

In 2018 £40,000 had to be found for repairs identified in the 5-yearly report. This was raised through FOSM, Grants and the help of the Church Commissioners. Previous to this there were multiple lead thefts from the roof, the repairs for which also had a rather large price tag attached.
